Anxiety, Depression and Health Behavior of Elderly with Chronic Diseases

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify anxiety, depression and health behavior of elderly with chronic diseases.

Method : 198 old adults with chrnoic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, arthritis voluntarily participated the interviews. The questionnaire was composed general characteristics and health- related characteristics, anxiety, depression, health behavior.

Result: 37.4% of the participants was mild depression. The level of anxiety had a significant difference in age, the economic burden of medication, the assistance needed for daily activities, subjective health status. The level of depression had a difference in age, education, existence of spouses, living arrangement, monthly income, the economic burden of medication, the assistance needed for daily activities, subjective health status. The level of health behavior had a difference in occupation, the economic burden of medication, the assistance needed for daily activities, subjective health status. The relationships among the anxiety. depression, and health behavior were significant.

Conclusion: The result of this study reported that there was significant relationship in the level of anxiety, depression, and health behavior for the elderly with chronic diseases.
